School Testimonials

After many years of struggling through teaching social dance, we luckily found Emma to teach our year 9’s.  We were a little concerned how Emma would cope with 60 students at a time…but there was no need to be worried. Emma is enthusiastic and motivated. She immediately gained control of the group with fun music, a strong voice and excellent dance skills. The kids loved it!!! Over 3 double lessons they learnt the cha cha and the Salsa and it was amazing to watch kids who usually were quiet…come out of their shell. Besides the kids getting a lesson I was schooled…and enjoyed learning these two dances. I would strongly recommend Emma to any group looking for an energetic motivated and skilled dance teacher to help your students enjoy the art of social dance. Thanks so much Emma!!! 🙂

It has been a pleasure to have worked with Emma Lane. She is always professional, friendly and well organised. Emma developed rapport and immediately captured student interest.  She structured lessons to suit all levels and abilities using contemporary music which the students could relate to. Her enthusiastic approach contributed significantly to students feeling at ease and a high level of participation was noticeable at all times. Emma handled our large groups (55 students) very well during lessons.  Her discipline was friendly yet firm and her ability to keep the class rotating and engaged was impressive.  It was encouraging to witness the degree of proficiency most students achieved in such a short time. The feedback from students and other staff has been very positive. I have no hesitation in recommending Emma to any school.

Emma is not only an experienced dance teacher but most importantly for me, one that makes dance accessible and fun for all. I was in a class of mixed ability and Emma effortlessly made us all feel at ease from the beginning and moved the classes forward at a pace that suited all.

You felt looked after as an individual where Emma helped correct technique and also as a group, encouraging us to challenge ourselves in a range of different dance styles. I was someone with little experience previously but by the end of her classes felt confident to go out to dance events and salsa the night away!

I would thoroughly recommend Emma’s classes whatever your ability or motivation.

Our Year 10 students had the privilege to learn the Tango under the passionate and professional guidance from Emma Lane. Emma did an exceptional and experienced job keeping the students in line and in time. All students learnt a variety of tango moves, correct dance posture, timing and the ability to lead and follow. Our school hall floor has never looked so polished!  The students had so much fun and still ask each morning if we’re doing the Tango 🙂 Thanks again Emma.

Emma is not only a wonderful teacher of dance, but a fabulous teacher of teenagers.  Her ability to walk into a room and get large group of teenagers up and moving is impressive.  She brings great energy to her dance classes and demands, and receives, great results from her students.  She is a pleasure to work with!

AS PART OF THEIR PDHPE DANCE UNIT, the Year 10s have been learning the tango this term. With passionate and professional teaching by Emma Lane from Get Dancing Gold Coast, within just three weeks the students learnt a variety of tango moves, correct dance posture, timing and the ability to lead and follow.

The floor in the Hall has never looked so polished after the student’s assessment day. The dancing was of a very high standard, reflecting not only the students’ attitude and ability to learn a new skill, but also Emma’s quality teaching.  Bien hecho tango masters!

Emma’s dance lessons were highly engaging and age appropriate.  Within minutes, all of the children, including those who nervously identified as ‘can’t dance’ or ‘don’t dance’, were joyfully following and practising the steps.  Emma made everyone feel comfortable and confident. Her energy was uplifting and fun and she commanded the attention of her students.  Silkwood School’s Year 3 students were so inspired that they organised for Emma to return in conjunction with our Summer Festival celebrations, as a fun way to promote being healthy and active in the community.   We loved it and we look forward to our next dance!

Emma worked with my year 5’s and 6’s at Carlton Primary School where I was the class teacher and the Performing Arts Coordinator. We were performing a World Dance theme for our end of year school show. Emma came to our school to help us work on the show, in particular with year 6 as it was their graduation year.

Emma suggested we work on the Tango for a dramatic finale. Her patience and student centred approach was clear from the start and she had the students engaged and excited. It was incredible to see how the students were so focused in class and motivated. She managed to make the students feel confident and got them quickly working together, boys with girls and used humour to overcome any shyness. Her creativity and attention to detail with the ability to break things down into manageable and simple steps paid off as the show was incredible.

As an experienced Primary school teacher and Performing Arts Coordinator who has worked in the profession for over 20 years I would thoroughly recommend Emma as a dance teacher as she has the ability work at the level of the students, encouraging those who need support or motivation, whilst at the same time challenging and engaging all students to perform to the best of their ability.

Private and Group Testimonials

The dance classes are great!  We are lucky to have Emma who is a top notch professional teacher who has taught in some of the best schools in Melbourne.  And she’s right on our doorstep! So if you’ve been thinking of doing it – do it!  It’s fun and it’s good for staving off dementia and it’s great exercise!”

I’m more of a ‘dance to the beat of my own drum” type of dancer and am hopeless at copying other people, but I found Emma’s teaching so easy to follow!  After just one of Emma’s classes I went to a salsa night and everyone was asking who my teacher was.  They were all were shocked to find out I’d only done one class.

I took both private and group dancing lessons with Emma and it was such a wonderful experience!  Emma is a very patient, highly skilled and very encouraging instructor and her passion for dancing is absolutely infectious.

As an adult with no previous dance experience, starting lessons felt very daunting, but Emma made the experience so much fun and within just a few months I learnt so much and gained so much confidence. I remember really looking forward to our lessons each week and was so disappointed when she moved from Melbourne.

I can’t recommend Emma’s dance classes highly enough.

My husband and I had so much fun in Emma’s classes.  Emma is a delight as a teacher and has a knack for getting people to understand movement. I’ve seen her teach very awkward and stiff people to achieve great results and have fun while learning.

Emma has a genuine passion and talent for dance and if I wasn’t in a different state, I would gladly take her classes again.
